Editor,
Once again, everyone has a chance to make a monetary donation count for twice as much. Town Pump’s annual donation “Be a Friend in Deed to Those in Need” Campaign is generously offering to meet up to a total of $5,000 in matching funds for those who support our community’s own Bread Basket. These funds will stay in our community. Now is the time to give; the campaign is already in full swing and lasts through November.
Our farmers, ranchers and home garden growers have been generously supplying the Bread Basket with fresh produce, which has been a real treat for their neighbors in need. Thank you for sharing. The Bread Basket board is so grateful for what we receive from our faithful community whether it be with food, time (as in our dedicated volunteers) or in the financial assistance we always seem to need to keep our doors open.
We are extremely grateful also to the newspapers who patiently help remind all of us of our neighbor’s needs, as well as the grocery stores, the local businesses (including our local butchers), the schools, community organizations, the tribe and the many, many individuals, all who remember others who may be less fortunate; those who reach into their patched pockets and share what they have.
Right now, we are looking for a way to find a badly needed supply of milk for our children. It would be so nice to have fresh fruit during the winter for our families, also. Needs include bread, soup, flour, eggs, peanut butter, juices, sugar, pasta, dry beans, etc (things that stretch a long way).
When feeding around 200 families monthly, these are things we find ourselves running short on and having to purchase consistently.
With the Town Pump’s charitable donation in meeting our community’s financial generosity, we will be able to make sure we can feed our hungry neighbors throughout the long winter when work is hard to find. Remember, each person can make such a difference by his or her caring contribution. Thank you for your continued support.
