ANACONDA — The Polson Pirates tamed the Copperheads Friday night, picking up a 22-7 win on the road.
Riley Sampson led the Pirate defense with eight tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery, and Eric Williamson added seven tackles and two sacks. Beau Mills chalked up six tackles and two caused fumbles, while Brady Hislop had four tackles and two sacks.
Quarterback Andrew Weltz completed nine of 16 passes for 161 yards and had one touchdown and an interception.
“The defense front and linebackers played great, only giving up 42 yards rushing,” head coach Scott Wilson said. “We start conference this week and need to focus on not giving up big plays on defense and sustaining drives on offense.”
