Corvallis deals Pirates 3rd loss

The Polson Pirates improved to 2-1 in conference and 5-3 overall last week after the boys fell to non conference Corvallis and beat Northwestern A opponent Libby at home.
Against Corvallis, Polson struggled early offensively, falling behind 12-6 after the first quarter. It appeared Polson was back in the heat of things when the Pirates put up 12 points in the second, trailing 26-18 at the half. Corvallis closed the door on the Pirates in the second half, going on a 22-12 run that granted the Blue Devils a 60-43 win.
Tyler Krell led Polson with 14 points, while Vince DiGiallonardo added 10. Ian Laimbeer, Zach Camel and Cody Fischer added seven each.
Corvallis was led by Colby Henderson, who had 20 points. Chase Walker finished with 12, while Beau Maus contributed 11 and Riley Bradshaw added 10.
The Pirates picked their spirits up on Saturday, securing a convincing and much-needed win over the Libby Loggers, with a final score of 69-46.
Krell set the tone for Polson yet again with 13 points, while Laimbeer and Zach Camel each added 12 points.
Polson got the game off to a solid start, leading 19-6 after the first quarter and 33-19 at the break. From then on it was a game of catch-up that Libby couldn’t pull off, as Polson held Libby to only nine points in the final frame, winning 69-46.
Libby’s Jared Winslow scored a game-high 18 points to pace the Loggers, while Kraig Nelson also earned double digits with 14. The loss moved Libby to 0-3 in conference and 1-6 overall.
Polson plays Flathead Jan. 20 and Whitefish Jan. 21.
