POLSON – At home Friday, the Polson Pirate football team proved why they are one of the top Class A teams in the region. They crushed the Hamilton Broncs 41-0. The Pirates’ offense was unstoppable, carrying the ball 41 times for 327 yards and five touchdowns.

Pirate senior quarterback Vince DiGiallonardo had 14 carries for 127 yards, and threw the ball six times, completing five for 110 yards, including three touchdowns on runs of 33, 6, and 10 yards, and passed to Will Davey for a 41-yard touchdown. Chris Cote made a big impact as well, carrying the ball 16 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns on runs of 39 and 3 yards.

The Pirate defense allowed the Broncs to march down the field, but held Hamilton to 22 carries for 63 total rushing yards. In the air, Hamilton completed 7 of 25 passes for 84 yards.

Head Coach Scott Wilson says he’s pleased with his team’s performance so far this season after two double-digit wins in as many weeks. There are still issues his team needs to address to experience their full potential, he added.

“We must continue to work on cutting down on our mistakes,” Wilson said. “The defense played great; we had three interceptions.”

Polson hosts Anaconda at home on Friday, Sept. 16.
