POLSON — Port Polson Players in association with Mission Valley Friends of the Arts continue their 47th year with John Patrick’s classic comedy, The Curious Savage.
The show kicks off the 2022 theatre season at Polson’s beautiful Theatre on the Lake, running this weekend April 29, 30, and May 1. Curtain times are 7:30 Friday and Saturday, with a Sunday matinee at 2 pm.
Originally written in the 1950s, this clever and timely play features Ethel P. Savage, an elderly woman whose husband recently died and left her ten million dollars. Playing against the kindness and loyalty of psychiatric patients, the avarice and vanity of “respectable” public figures examines human nature, parodying Ethel’s greedy offspring to comic perfection, right up to the surprise twist ending. According to director Karen Lewing, “The Curious Savage has a simple message that will warm hearts with humor, yet remind us all of what is truly important.” Lewing adds, “It’s a true honor to be working with a cast of eleven veteran Port Polson Players to celebrate the opening of our 47th year.”
Seen here, left to right, K.C. Sorenson (Hannibal), Liz Grant (Florence), Erika Jennison as Mrs. Savage, Annie Engebretson (Mrs. Paddy), Gary Collinge (Jeff) and Cindy Sorenson (Fairy May) join their cast of eleven veteran Port Polson Players.
