Eagles soar to wins over Lincoln, St. Regis this week

It was a strong week for Clayton Malatare and the Two Eagle River Eagles as Malatare scored a career-high 33 points in a win over St. Regis Thursday before following that up with a game-high 22 points in a win over Lincoln Friday.
Malatare knocked down five 3-pointers Thursday evening as the Eagles kept the St. Regis Tigers winless this season. Malatare alone tied the Tigers in the opening quarter, as he sank three triples to lead Two Eagle River to an 11-9 advantage after eight minutes of action.
The Eagles began to widen the gap in the second frame, outscoring the Tigers 19-6 to grab a 30-15 halftime lead.
Malatare caught fire again in the third quarter, hitting two from long range and scoring 12 as the Eagles erupted for 31 points. The Eagles led 62-25 heading into the final eight minutes of play and cruised to a 75-44 victory.
Malatare's 33 led the way for the Eagles in the win while Skyler Rossbach was also in double figures with 11.
St. Regis was led by Thomas Spencer and Jarrod Tippens with 17 points each.
Malatare led the way again Friday, scoring 22 points in a 72-64 win over Lincoln. This time, three other Eagles joined him in double figures as T.J. Cutfinger poured in 15 points, Marcus Brown added 14 and Rossbach scored 13.
Malatare scored more than half his points from three-point range as he put in four from long distance leading the Eagles to win the scoring battle in the first three quarters.
Brown had 10 rebounds to go with his 14 points as the Eagles improved to 7-10 with the win.
The Lynx were led by Gabe Harris with 19 points and Ward Robinson, who added 18. Lincoln falls to 10-5 with the loss.
