News from North Lake County Public Library

POLSON — Come meet the library’s collection of websites and apps providing e-books, audiobooks, magazines, and more. “Meet the Library Apps” Tuesday, Nov. 9, from 3-4 p.m. in our large meeting room.  Technology librarian Sierra Ross will introduce you to seven unique digital resources and how to access them on your devices. Whether you’ve dabbled in the apps before or don’t know where to begin, this program will help you explore new ways to take the library home and on the go. If you intend to sign up for any apps or websites during the program, bring your preferred device or call the library to request a loaner laptop. Masks are recommended but not required.

Do you love horror stories, or maybe fantasy, what about political fiction? We’ve made it easy to find the books you love with our reorganization of the adult fiction section. We have sorted our books by genre to make it easier for you to find the genres you love and to discover new authors in those genres. This change will allow us to better serve you by identifying what genres are the most popular and which ones are missing or lacking in books. If you prefer books by a specific author, we are happy to print you a list of all of the titles we hold for an author in our collection. We hope you enjoy the change, and please let us know if you ever disagree with a genre.

The North Lake County Public Library in Polson continues the display of September 11, 2001: The Day that Changed the World, a poster exhibition that presents the history of 9/11, its origins, and its ongoing implications through the personal stories of those who witnessed and survived the attacks twenty years ago. This moving display will remain in the library foyer through October. This display is appropriate for adults as well as school-aged children and teens.

Mondays mean Mother Goose. Join us at 9:15 a.m. Mother Goose is geared toward ages 0 to 3, but all are welcome.  We encourage parents & caregivers to participate with their children for this early learning time. The doors open at 9 a.m. We will practice social distancing. Face masks are recommended but not required.

Trick or Treat?  We’ve got ‘em. Come see us on Friday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in costume for trick or treating downtown. What will the library ladies dress up as this year? You’ll have to drop in to see.

The Library will be closed for Veteran’s Day, Thursday, Nov. 11. We will reopen on Friday, Nov. 12.
