FLATHEAD RESERVATION — The official Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Council election results were tabulated for the July 31 Primary Election to elect two candidates for each of the five districts to be eligible to be placed on the General Election ballot for Dec. 18.
Voter turnout was at 31 percent for the election with 1,230 total votes, according to election officials.
In Arlee, CSKT Chairwoman Shelly R. Fyant received 709 votes, and Jimmy Malatare received 199 votes.
At-Large votes were at 280 for Tom McDonald and 217 for Dan Depoe. Ronald Trahan had 124 votes; Myrna L. DuMontier had 168; Julian C. “Chuck” Courville had 88; Arthur R. Trahan Jr. had 67; Jordan Stasso had 97; and Jesse James Courville had 28.
In Elmo, Len Twoteeth received 710 votes, and Art Caye was at 186. Wain Lefthand had 80 votes; and Lois Friedlander had 107.
In Polson, Charmel R. Gillin received 446 votes, and Jennifer Finley received 628 votes.
In Ronan, Carole J. DePoe Lankford had 722 votes, and Leonard Michel received 289 votes. John Stevens had 89.
