Scarlets pick up first win on road

ARLEE — The Scarlets basketball team went 1-1 on the road last week against St. Regis and Loyola Sacred Heart. Three players were in double figures as the Scarlets defeated St. Regis 55-33. The Scarlets went on a scoring frenzy, outscoring the Lady Tigers 13-7 and 16-7 in the third and fourth quarters to seal the win.

Mahalia Hendren led Arlee with 17 points; Whitney Malatare was close behind with 16, and Des Nault had 11 with nine in the fourth quarter.

Pilar Cantrell-Field scored 16 points to lead St. Regis.

In Missoula, the Breakers proved to be more of a challenge and beat the Scarlets 72-38. Hendren again topped all Scarlet scorers with 15 points. Helping out Hendren was Tayla Desjarlais and Malatare with six points. Loyola’s Maddie Keast led all scorers with 16 points. The Scarlets are now 1-4.
