Area teams receive softball postpeason selections

LAKE COUNTY — There was no shortage of local athletes when it came to the 2021 MHSA all-conference and all-state post season selections.
Seventeen Mission Valley area softball players were named to the all-conference teams in their respective classifications with nine players taking first-team honors. Five more were named to the second team and three were named as honorable mention. Additionally, eight players garnered all-state honors.
Polson Lady Pirate head coach Jami Hanson took home Coach of the Year honors for Class A after leading the Lady Pirates all the way to the school’s eighth state championship, a Class A record.
In Class A, Polson’s Katelyn Druyvestein, Lexy Orien, Josie Caye, Mckenna Hanson and Ronan’s Macao Jackson received All-state recognition. Class B/C All-state honors went to Mission-Arlee-Charlo’s (MAC) Liev Smith, Kooper Page and Jerny Crawford.
Polson’s Druyvestein, Orien, Caye, Hanson and Kobbey Smith along with Jackson, of Ronan, all received Northwestern A All-conference first-team honors. Druyvestein also nabbed all-conference MVP accolades.
Polson Lady Pirate SaVanna Carpentier, Mossy Kauley and Ronan Maiden Kira Sherman were named to the all-conference second team.
Earning all-conference honorable mention recognition were Polson’s Anna Vert, Turquoise Pierre and Ronan’s Ashlee Welker.
For the MAC, who finished runner up in the Class B/C championship game, Smith, Page and Jerny Crawford all received all-conference first-team selections. Izzy Evans and Rheid Crawford were named to the all-conference second team.
