News from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office

BIG ARM — On Nov. 25, 2020, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the discovery of human remains in Big Arm State Park.

At the time, it was suspected they could be the remains of 37-year-old Miranda “Rosie” Kenmille, of Elmo; however, further confirmation of this was needed in order to positively identify the remains. The Montana State Crime Lab was able to determine via DNA that the remains are those of Miranda Kenmille.

Kenmille was last seen in Elmo in August of 2020, but she was not reported missing until about one month later, in September. The circumstances of Kenmille’s death are still under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, and we are asking for the public’s help in this matter. Inquiries or information regarding this investigation should be directed to Detective Dan Yonkin at dyonkin@lakemt.gov.
