Ronan grabs conference tennis win from Polson

POLSON — The Ronan High School Chiefs and Maidens tennis teams took wins against the Polson Pirates and Lady Pirates on Tuesday afternoon, April 27.

Playing on Polson’s home court, the Chiefs defeated the Pirates 5-2. The Maidens narrowly slipped past the Lady Pirates 4-3.

The Chiefs won three singles and two doubles matches during the conference matchup. Beau Decker took a three-set 2-6, 6-1, 6-0 win against Owen McElwee. Brady Dresden defeated Brock Henricksen 6-1, 6-3. Chris Lake fell 6-3, 7-6(6) to Ronan’s Dylan Schock.  

In a tight contest, Ronan’s doubles team of Connor Cornwell and Larenz Alvarez defeated Otto Lund and Tare Barentsen 6-1, 6-7 (7-2), 6-1. Also for the Chiefs, Caden Bourdon and Vincente Ortega prevailed 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 over Noah Flaten and Tristan Clifford. 

Polson’s Torrin Ellis won with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 in a three-set victory over Dillon PrettyOnTop. Casey Trosper and Carson Hupka won for the Pirates in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 over Reni Stalheim and Kaden Mohammad.

On the girl’s side of the court, Ronan won three singles flights against the Lady Pirates. Aaliyah Decker picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lady Pirate Elizabeth Tolley. Maiden Alyssa PrettyOnTop defeated Piper Hoxie 6-0, 6-0. Courtney Bourdon came away with a three-set 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Hope Morrison. 

Madison Perry and Kaileen Howard won for Ronan with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Addison Bahr and Lauren Collinge. 

Berkley Ellis won for Polson as she rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 straight-set win against Ronan Maiden Skyler Shima. The Lady Pirates took advantage of two default wins.
