A Polson man was ordered to pay restitution of $501,067.49 to the victim of a wreck who ultimately had to have a foot amputated due to injuries.
The restitution was part of the sentence handed down at District Court in Polson, on March 10, by Judge James Manley in the case of Dillon S. Bindschadler, 29. Imposition of sentencing was deferred for six years.
According to court records, on Aug. 3, 2020, emergency services were dispatched to a report of a wreck involving a white Jeep and a motorcycle at the intersection of U. S. Highway 93 and Tower Road, north of Polson.
At the scene, Bindschadler admitted to investigators that he had been drinking alcohol earlier in the day. He also admitted that he turned in front of the motorcyclist, causing the motorcycle to crash into the front right side of the Jeep.
The man driving the motorcycle was transported to an area hospital for treatment of several broken bones. Lake County Attorney Steve Eschenbacher told the court that the victim eventually had a foot amputated as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash.
