Mission Valley grapplers qualify for state tournament action

Twenty-five Mission Valley Prep wrestlers secured coveted bracket spots in last weekend’s State A wrestling tournament in Miles City and State B/C wrestling tournament in Shelby.
Wrestling in Friday and Saturday’s Western A Divisional Tournament, held in Libby, 10 Ronan Chiefs and 10 Polson Pirates qualified for the state tournament.
Claiming tournament bracket slots for Chief wrestlers were Ian Dillard (5th-103), Fortino Silva (5th-120), Trevor Bartel (8th-126), Beaudean Decker (3rd-132), Nate Young (8th-132), Landon Bishop (2nd-138), Caleb Cheff (4th-145), Trapper McAllister (2nd-152), Max Morency (4th- 285) and Jesse Little Boy (5th-285).
Booking 75 total team points, Polson wrestlers Ryley Knutson (3rd-103), Braedon Iliff (7th-103), Cole Cross (6th-113), Micah Craig (8th-120), Maysn Cowell (3rd-126), Gavin Knutson (6th-126), Xavier Pierre (8th-145), Abel Kimmel (7th-170), Tristan Fisher (7th-182) and Aaron O’Roake (6th-285) earned bids to the state tournament.
In the Western B-C divisional tournament hosted in Cut Bank, on Saturday, Mission/Charlo scored a total of 46 team points. Earning state tournament spots for the Bulldogs were wrestlers Kody Dillard (8th-103), Isaiah Fields (8th-126), Canyon Sargent (5th-152) and Deago Hostetler (8th-182).
Arlee, which finished in the team standings with 28 points, had one state qualifier who was Warrior Colt Crawford, wrestling in the 145 class. He placed third with a pin win.
