At District Court in Polson on Feb. 10, a man was convicted of felony indecent exposure to a minor and was committed to the direction of the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services for five years with none of that time suspended.
Jonathon Dell Tifft, 29, of Polson and Hot Springs, entered an Alford plea to the charge on Oct. 28, 2020, before Judge James Manley. In an Alford plea, a defendant concedes the case based on state’s evidence without admitting guilt.
Tifft told the court that he was suffering a mental disease or defect during the Polson High School homecoming parade on Sept. 27, 2019, when he exposed himself to several girls on a parade float. Some of the girls were too uncomfortable to provide a statement. Of the seven victims who did provide a statement, six were 14 years of age and one was 15. Manley gave Tifft credit for 503 days of jail time already served.
