Lake County Sheriff reports traffic accident fatality south of Ronan

RONAN — Lake County Sheriff Don Bell identified the man killed during a head on collision at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan 21, as 70-year-old Jack Howlett of Ronan.
Lake County 911 Dispatch Center was notified that a passenger vehicle and a semi-tractor trailer had hit head on in a collision on U.S. Highway 93 south of Ronan near Innovation Drive.
“Upon arrival, emergency crews identified the driver of the passenger vehicle was deceased,” Bell said. “The driver was the only occupant in the passenger vehicle.”
Montana Highway Patrol and Motor Carrier Services continue to investigate the crash.
“The decedent was transported to the State Forensic Lab for autopsy and the death is under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff/Coroner’s Office,” Bell said.
Representing the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Bell said: “We send our condolences to Mr. Howlett’s family.”
