The Polson Pirate wrestling team had a busy week, hosting Libby on Thursday, followed by the two-day Western Montana Duals in Ronan over the weekend. Polson finished seventh out of 14 teams. On Friday, Polson defeated Arlee 60-30 and Deer Lodge 78-0, before falling to Glacier JV 44-42.
Polson heavyweight Josiah Clairmont got off to a strong start, winning all three of his matches on Friday, with his first win coming via an Arlee forfeit. Dylan Moll (119), Craig Feistner (125) and Alex Nystrom also won all three of their matches on Friday. On Saturday, Polson took on Drummond where the Pirates picked up 12 match wins to secure a 78-12 victory. Moll (119) continued his winning streak, pinning Matt Robinson in 1:36, while Feistner (125) also won his fourth-straight, pinning Bridger Deschamps in 13 seconds. In the 140-pound class, Alex Nystrom (140) pinned Ty Pocha in 1:00. Clairmont won his fourth-straight match of the tournament via forfeit.
Polson then squared off with Columbia Falls, losing to the Wildcats by criteria, 42-42. Moll pinned Seth McCall in 1:56, while Feistner (125) continued to fare well on the mat, pinning Taylor Mitchell in 13 seconds. Nystrom (140) pinned Bryon Shaffer in 1:48, and Mike Devlin pinned Travis Province in 3:15. Josiah Clairmont remained undefeated after pinning Wade Motichka in 22 seconds.
The Pirates went to the mat against cross-county rival Ronan, with Polson edging the Chiefs 48-36. Moll won against Chase Rhine, pinning him in 1:05, while Nystrom (140) continued his winning streak by pinning Lauren Christopher in 14 seconds. Clairmont also finished with a 6-6 record, winning by forfeit.
On Thursday, Polson fell to Libby at home in a Northwestern A battle. Feistner pinned Aaron Seefeldt in the 125-pound category, while Alex Nystrom contributed points for the team by pinning Garret Chapel in 3:21. Mike Devlin (152) also picked up a victory via a 7-5 decision. Heavyweight Josiah Cairmont pinned Zach Dolezal in 42 seconds. Polson also won 98 and 112 by forfeit, while Libby won 105, 160 and 171 by forfeit.
The Pirates host Columbia Falls Jan. 12, and travel to the Rocky Mountain Classic Jan. 13.
