PABLO — The 2020 graduates of Two Eagle River School received a special send off on the football field Saturday afternoon. The traditional graduation ceremony was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I want to say how proud I am of these graduates,” said TERS Superintendent Rodney Bird in his opening remarks. “Ninety-two days is a long wait. Nobody could have predicted that this graduation ceremony would be held 92-days after the originally scheduled day last spring.”
During the ceremony, the Chief Cliff Singers and Ardon McDonald led the processional for the class of 2020. Keynote speaker and TERS home cultures teacher Kathy Tapia addressed the 20 graduating students while masked family, friends and guest watched from socially distanced seating. During her speech, Tapia conveyed to the students how proud she was of them.
“I can’t believe we finished,” she said. “You pushed through to the end, despite all the challenges, all the obstacles you faced. I am proud to say that you are part of our Two Eagle River School family.”
Before receiving their diplomas, each student was honored by school administrators and instructors.
