POLSON — Lake County Sheriff Jay Doyle said he believes Keith Stapley, an attorney contracted by the Montana Association of Counties, will be representing Doyle, Undersheriff Dan Yonkin, Lt. Mike Sargeant and Deputy Dan Duryee in a civil case filed against them in U.S. District Court by several other current and one former Sheriff's deputy.
LCSO Deputies Steve Kendley, Mike Gehl, Ben Woods and Levi Read and former deputy Terry Leonard are suing Doyle, Yonkin, Sargeant and Duryee for alleged violations of their Constitutional rights and the Racketeer Influence and Corrupt Organizations Act.
At a question and answer session held before the Republican Central Committee meeting Feb. 29 in Polson, Doyle stated that since he’s taken over as sheriff, any alleged wrongdoing by anybody in the sheriff’s office has been sent outside of his department to be investigated.
Stapley has requested the men make no further comments.
