Editor,
Last time I wrote to our wonderful Lake County, it was June 14th and we had 600 cases of COVID-19 in Montana, but that was a jump from 461 cases on June 1st.
At the time, I referred to this growth as exponential or rapid growth, but that word should have been reserved for the change we’ve seen in Montana from June 1st to July 20th.
By July 20th, we’ve racked up 2,621 cases in Montana. This is, hold on to your hats folks, a 336.8 percent increase over June. That is real exponential growth.
Don’t be lulled into complacency here in Lake County, either. We are at 101 cases as of this letter on July 20th.
So, let us thank our good friends who are wearing their masks, along with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes who are doing the very challenging work of sheltering in place. Thanks to Walmart for requiring masks and to Albertson’s Safeway stores for requiring masks as of July 21st. We, in Lake County, salute all of you who may be saving our lives.
For the naysayers, please consider wearing a mask. Keep washing your hands everyone and keep that 6 feet of social distance from your buddies, even on the golf course.
