POLSON — Heart and Soul Community Development grant coordinators Darlis and Daniel Smith have announced the opening of a new office for the project starting this week.

As of March 15, the new office, located on the east side of the North Lake County Public Library building in Polson, will be open to the public. The outside entrance is located next to the outside entrance to the community meeting room.

The Smiths envision hosting storytelling sessions and block parties at the new office as a means of gathering the community together.

The Smiths are part of the Envision Polson! subcommittee of the Greater Polson Community Foundation - the group that was awarded the Heart and Soul grant.

Foundation Chair Penny Jarecki, said, “I look at this as the piece missing from Envision Polson! ... The baby steps are in place ... People need to feel like their voice is heard.”

“We’re getting our structure figured out,” Darlis explained. “There is room for a lot of volunteers to be involved — little jobs and big jobs — something everyone can do, long term and short term.”

“We want to engage people in our community and collaborate on how we want Polson’s future to go,” Darlis said.
