Montana makes appearance in new 1970s novel
POLSON – Local author Maggie Plummer has published a new novel, “Webs in the Mist,” which is the second book in her semi-autobiographical Jessie Morgan series. The novel is the sequel to “Bell-Bottom Gypsy,” following Jessie as she arrives in San Francisco during the fall of 1972.
The city is a global mecca for hippies and radicals. Driving her VW down the Pacific Coast, 21-year-old Jess can’t wait to join her friend Donna. She’s more than ready for San Francisco’s Bohemian vibe, bongo-mad street life, perpetual protests, and cutting-edge counterculture. Among the characters she meets are Cat, a tall, blues-loving Sicilian, and Carl, a Harley-riding enigma with bushy red hair.
As Jessie spreads her wings in the Bay Area, she leaves her stormy past behind. Or does she?
As in Bell-Bottom Gypsy, Montana plays a role in the book. Jessie hates the bone-chilling summer fog in San Francisco, so she and a friend take the train to Glacier National Park to go backpacking. They also visit Flathead Lake, Polson and Darby, embarking on a second backpacking trip up Tin Cup Creek. “Webs in the Mist” is available on Amazon and at Super One Foods in Polson.
