Editor,

The wasps and hornets will soon be out in force, but please don’t poison them.  There’s a better and more responsible way to be rid of them. Birds and insects are in steep decline worldwide. It is an extremely critical situation.

Go to your hardware store and get a couple wasp traps. You’ll be amazed at the thousands of critters you’ll catch. They come with bait and you can get a new supply of when it runs out. Or you can make your own out of water, honey and a drop of dish soap. The soap is to kill the wasps, hornets and yellow jackets you catch. The honey isn’t for its sweetness; it is for fermentation.
