RONAN —Prototypes of CORE Motion’s gasless trimmer, hedge trimmer, blower and lawn mower were on display when Sen. Jon Tester visited Core Motion at Jore Corporation’s south campus on Saturday. CORE’s website explains CORE stands for Conductor Optimized Rotary Energy, “a cutting-edge device capable of producing high torque rotary motion at high efficiencies and power densities.”

According to Matt Jore’s presentation, the implements have the power of gas-powered tools, the run time of gas, are maintenance-free and hassle-free. The first batch of CORE grass trimmers was shipped in early March, but they are available locally at Ace Hardware in Polson and Ronan for $219.

The Core crew is working on noise-canceling and noise-absorbing technology for the blower, but the hedge trimmer and blower are slated for launch this summer, said Dan Gabig, CORE financial and business development consultant. The lawnmower may be available next year. Sales for the trimmer are going well, limited only by supply, Gabig added.

Tester’s caravan continued on to the Community Food Production located at the Mission Mountain Food Enterprise Center. The Farm to School program has processed 6,500 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables and sent them to Kalispell, Polson and Ronan schools and are planning for next year. They are also working on a lentil burger recipe to help fill the months when they don’t have veggies, according to Jan Tusick, program director for the Lake County Community Development Corporation.

Tester noted that the Obama administration is in favor of local food. He added that he wants to make sure the schools have federal dollars so they have maximum flexibility to buy local foods.

Tester was on a campaign swing through western Montana and continued on to Whitefish and Columbia Falls.
