ST. IGNATIUS – Lady Bulldog senior Karolyna Buck signed her national letter of intent to continue both her cross-country and track careers at Montana Tech in Butte on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the St. Ignatius High School.
Buck has garnered numerous all-conference accolades on both the volleyball and basketball courts and top-five finishes on the track and cross-country courses. Buck capped off her senior cross-country season with a Western B Girls Cross Country Divisional Championship title. During last spring’s track and field season, Buck established new school benchmarks in the 4x100, 800 meter and 1600 meter events.
Buck said campus atmosphere and staying close to home were reasons why she chose the school.
“When I went there for a visit, I liked the campus and all the people there were really nice,” said Buck. “I had a few small colleges ask me to come run there but they were all out of state and too far away.”
Buck will have the unique opportunity to leave her mark on the Orediggers’ record books. Montana Tech prepares for its inaugural season in cross-country. “I think it’s cool that I get to stay in state and that I get to be part of the first ever cross-country team,” said Buck.
