Charlo wins both home games, extending victory streak

CHARLO – The Charlo Lady Viking basketball team won their sixteenth straight victory, and the Vikings picked up their fourth overall win on the season during home games on Friday against 14C conference rivals Two Eagle River Eagles and Lady Eagles.
In the first game of the evening, the Lady Vikings outpaced the Lady Eagles 80-10. In the second game, the Vikings earned a 58-37 win over the Eagles.
The Lady Vikings took control with a strong offensive and defensive effort in the first quarter, holding the Lady Eagle shooters scoreless, and sprinting out to a 17-0 lead. Charlo built a 47-1 halftime lead. The Lady Eagles trailed 65-10 heading into the fourth quarter. Charlo then outscored the Lady Eagles 15-0 in the final quarter to put away the win.
Destiny Manuel and Carlee Fryberger led the Lady Vikings in double figures with 14 points each. Liev Smith scored 12 points, and Connor Fryberger netted 11 points. To lead the Lady Eagles, Cealana Shepherd scored five points and Viviana Adams posted four points.
For the Viking boys, the win snapped a four-game losing streak. To start the game, the Vikings jumped out to a 13-7 first-quarter lead. Two Eagle River was able to battle back in the second quarter to cut the deficit to four points, 25-21. In the final eight minutes of the game, the Vikings expanded their lead 43-34.
Viking Dawson DuMont led the way offensively with a game-high 26 points. Sheadyn Croft paced the Eagles with 15 points.
Both Charlo and Two Eagle River squads wrap up their regular seasons this weekend. The Charlo Vikings and Lady Vikings travel on Friday to Hot Springs. The Two Eagle River Eagles and Lady Eagles play back-to-back home games against Troy on Friday and Plains on Saturday.
