PABLO – The Maidens routed the Polson Lady Pirates 68-18 and the Pirates plundered the Ronan Chiefs 63-46 in Northwestern A Conference prep basketball action on Friday night at the Joe McDonald Health and Activity Center.

In the early game of the night, the Maidens controlled the contest from start to finish to secure their sixth straight regular-season win. Leading the way in the first quarter for the Maidens were senior guard Kieneau DeRoche and sophomore guard Lexi Wirz who had a combined 16 of Ronan’s 20 points. DeRoche made nine of the points, netting three shots from the three-point line. Jazlyn Dalbey put the first points on the board for the Lady Pirates with a first-quarter 3-pointer.

The Maidens would lead 39-9 at the end of the first half. Regan Clairmont, eight points, and LaReina Cordova, seven points, helped lead Ronan to a 58-16 advantage at the start of the fourth quarter.

For the Maidens, DeRoche finished with a game-high 19 points, followed by Clairmont with 12 points and Wirz with 10 points. Alexia Keinitz scored a Lady Pirate team-high six points.

The Maidens improved to 8-3 overall on the season with Friday night’s victory. The Lady Pirates have remained winless since their last 53-48 road win over the Whitefish Lady Bulldogs back on Jan. 20, 2018.

The Pirates made six-consecutive regular-season wins over the Chiefs since the Northwestern A Conference in 2018.

The Pirates never trailed in the contest after jumping out to a lopsided 20-8 first-quarter lead over the Chiefs. With a 33-17 lead coming out of the locker room at halftime, the Pirates outscored the Chiefs 20-12 in the third period. In the fourth quarter, the Chiefs outpaced the Pirates 17-10 to close out the final minutes. Trevor Lake ended the night with a game-high 13 points on five baskets and a 3-for-6 shooting performance from the free-throw line for the Pirates.

Anton Lefthand was the only other double-digit scorer for Polson as he finished with 10 points. Zarec Couture led the way for Ronan in scoring and tied for the game-high with 13 points. Leonard Burke finished with 12 points.

The loss dropped the Chiefs to 4-10 overall. The Pirates moved to 8-5 on the season.
