Judge gives man three years for criminal endangerment

A Lake County man was sentenced in District Court at Polson on Jan. 22 to three years with the Montana Department of Corrections with no time suspended on the amended charge of criminal endangerment.
Jonathan Wayne Snyder, 40, was initially charged with sexual intercourse without consent for an incident that occurred on Feb. 18, 2019.
According to court records, Snyder made unwanted advances toward the niece of his ex-girlfriend while at his residence. Snyder and the alleged victim had gone to the residence so Snyder could receive gas money after he had given the victim a ride so that she could get her identification from a vehicle in an impound lot.
The victim told Deputy Dan Yonkin that Snyder forced himself upon her after she had said “no.” She said she felt that she had to have sex with Snyder or he would harm her. Snyder told Yonkin that the sex was consensual, but he contradicted himself several times during questioning.
The charge of sexual intercourse without consent was amended to criminal endangerment as part of a plea agreement reached in October of 2019. Judge James Manley gave Snyder credit for 338 days of jail time already served.
