The new year is officially underway, and just as you all have made and are hopefully still following your New Year’s Resolutions, we at the Chamber are also working on our planning for the year ahead. The 2012 President, Heather Knutson, looks forward to serving with the Board of Directors.
“We are excited and energized, and are looking forward to continuing to offer value programs to our membership, and to promote Polson to visitors in 2012,” comments Knutson. “Jackie Cripe and the previous Chamber Presidents have established a solid foundation to build on. We aim to continue following that positive direction.”
This past month, the Chamber hosted the general meeting, an employment law training, and the monthly SPLASH. Paddy Trusler, County Commissioner, was the presenter at the general meeting. Paddy shared valuable information with attendees on how the Commission budgeting structure works and offered an overview of the state of the county. SPLASH was hosted by Sandpiper Gallery at 306 Main St. Sandpiper is a nonprofit fine arts cooperation that has been in Polson for over 40 years – first at the County Library, and now in its current location. Offering exhibits of local artists, workshops, scholarships and other resources, the Sandpiper is truly a treasure in our community.
In addition, the Chamber continues to respond to visitor inquiries and offers referrals to our member businesses. Members are encouraged to keep us apprised of what is happening with your businesses so we can keep our information current.
Coming up next month:
• Feb. 1: General meeting at noon at Kwataqnuk. Our speaker will be Racine Friede, Executive Director of Glacier Country Tourism Region. Racine will be speaking on the Economic Impacts of Tourism. The public is encouraged to attend to hear this valuable information, to network, and to make announcements on what events and activities are taking place in your businesses.
• Feb. 8: Brown Bag Series, “Employment Law Training: Workplace Violence,” North Lake County Library. Bring a bag lunch and learn the best practices to prevent violence and address behavior that can lead to it. Good opportunity to discuss employment details with other business managers.
• Feb. 16: SPLASH, 5 to 7 p.m. at Pilates Plus, 220 Main St., Suite C. The community is invited to this networking event. We will join Melinda Leas at her studio and possibly even hear a little more about how we can stick to those New Year’s Resolutions.
The mission of the Polson Chamber of Commerce is to serve, support, and strengthen our members by enhancing our business climate, promoting our area, and fostering a sense of community.
