Polson tennis squads sweep Ronan

Polson's tennis teams took to the court for the first time this season Thursday as both the Pirates and Lady Pirates swept visiting Ronan to open the season.
For the Lady Pirates, it was their first time back on the court since finishing second at the state tournament last season. The Lady Pirates feature some familiar faces this year but will be without several top players from last year's squad, including Jane Probst and Kayla Rochin. Probst finished fourth in the state as a singles player last season while the duo of Kayla and Kendyall Rochin finished fourth in state as a doubles team last May.
The Rochin sisters never lost a regular-season conference match while playing together and lost to a conference foe just once in the playoffs (last year's divisional final).
Now featured as a singles player, Kendyall had no problems opening the season with a win Thursday as she downed Ronan's Josie Bendetti, 6-1, 6-4.
Polson's new No. 1 doubles team of Mackenzie Clay and Jordan Quinn also blew past their opponents, downing Ronan's Darian Blixt and Catelyn Matkovich, 6-1, 6-1.
On the boys' side of things, the Pirates were just as dominant as No. 1 singles player Brady Hislop took down top Chiefs' singles player Chase Allen, 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles action, the team of Will Davey and Justin Everetz picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win over Ronan's Hunter Shima and Payton Adams.
