Mission Valley prep runners find success at divisional races

This past week, cross-country runners across the Mission Valley competed in their respective divisional championships.
Mission Lady Bulldog runner Karolyna Buck ruled the girls race during the Western B-C Divisional held at the Rivers Bend Golf Course in Thompson Falls on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Crossing the finish line with a time of 21:37.33, Buck captured an individual girls divisional title and all-conference honors.
The Mission boys had two runners in the top 10 on the way to a 75-point, second-place team finish, led by Zoran LaFrombois (17:59.89) who finished seventh and Isaiah Nasewytewa (18:06.96) with an eighth-place finish. Both LaFrombois and Nasewytewa each earned all-conference honors for the Bulldogs.
The Arlee boys placed fourth as a team with Billy Fisher (18:39.21) as the top Warrior finisher in thirteenth place. Cheyenne Pablo paced the Arlee Scarlets with a time of 25:08.09.
On Saturday, the Polson and Ronan High School boys and girls cross-country teams competed in the Western A Fall Classic Divisional meet held at the Hamilton Golf Course. James Normandeau led the Ronan Chiefs with a runner-up finish in 16:45.71, Brant Heiner finished seventh in 17:13.44 and Michael Irvine was eighth in 7:16.35 as the Chiefs finished fourth with 95 points in the team standings.
For the Polson Pirates, Mason Sloan placed fourth with a time of 16:57.85. On the girls side of the leader board, Analeta Yellow Bird was ninth with a time of 21:12.74 for the Ronan Maidens, while Polson Lady Pirate Halle Heninger finished with a time of 21:19.19 for 12th place.
