CHARLO — Capping off what high school principal Steve Love called “a very good weekend for the Charlo Vikings,” the community celebrated graduation for 24 seniors Sunday afternoon.

Love was referring to the Vikings’ state championship in Class C track and field and the Mission-Arlee-Charlo softball team's third-place finish at State. While those achievements and graduating from high school are worthy of recognition, Love, chosen by the graduating class to give the commencement speech, encouraged the graduates not to become complacent.

“I hate to break it to you, but you haven’t done anything yet,” he said. “Go get more; stay hungry.”

The class of 2012 has already proved special, he noted, with six of six graduates who applied for a Pathways scholarship receiving the award — an honor that usually only goes to one Charlo student per year.

Involvement and leadership at school will be the class of 2012’s legacy, valedictorian Dillon Delaney said. He encouraged his classmates to keep up that spirit of community and responsibility as they take their next steps in life.

“As long as you’re able to look at yourself in the mirror at the end of the day and know you’ve done your best, nobody can take that away from you,” he said.

Salutatorian Kolten Andrews congratulated his fellow graduates for their determination in meeting their goals.

“The journey has been long; it’s been rough at times, but we made it,” he said.

The 24 graduates are: Kolten Andrews; Breanna Bilile; Daniel Blevins; Dawn Blevins; Kelsie Blevins; Deondra Brown; Devin Colliander; Stephen Delaney; Dillon Delaney; Peter DuMont; Keagan DuMont; Levi Frame; Ross Fullerton; Bradley Lobdell; Serena Long; Casey Nitschke; Kinley Pope; Julia Reich; Cory Seegers; Devin Soukkala; Jason Stevens; Elena Timpau; Colton Toren; and Cade Thompson.
