ANACONDA — The Mission-Arlee-Charlo Lady B
Eventual champion Florence downed Mission 6-2 on Friday to end the Lady Bulldogs’ State run. Despite a 2-for-2 attempt from Emyli Gillingham, the team wasn’t able to catch up to the Lady Falcons.
Earlier, Mission took on Conrad in the loser-takes-fourth contest, refusing to give up on a game that was tied 7-7 in the fourth inning. Pitcher Loren Erickson threw a three-hitter, and Sara Nerby and Kinley Pope had three hits each. Alyssa Doty and Janeal McDonald each had two singles.
In their state tournament opener against Stillwater, Erickson allowed only five hits, and Doty drove home three runs for the Lady Bulldogs. Emilie Charlo went 2 for 3, adding a double and an RBI, while teammate Serena Long had two more hits.
The title game of the tournament was postponed until Monday due to rainy, snowy weather, but the Florence Lady Falcons triumphed over Glasgow, winning their sixth State B-C championship.
The MAC Lady Bulldogs hope to displace the Lady Falcons next year.
