CHARLO – A two-vehicle crash claimed the lives of three people Monday morning, June 24.
The Montana Highway Patrol said the crash was reported just shortly after 7 a.m. on U.S. Highway 93 at mile marker 42, near Ninepipes Lodge, which is south of Ronan.
Lake County Sheriff Don Bell identified the victims as Mission Valley resident Audrey Moran, 66, and David and Benjamin Temte, 20-year-old twins from Bloomington, Minnesota.
The Montana Highway Patrol said the brothers were northbound on U.S. Highway 93 in a Lincoln Town Car when their vehicle struck a guardrail on the right side of the roadway, causing it to veer into the southbound lane and collide head-on with an oncoming Chrysler 300, driven by Moran.
All three people involved in the crash died at the scene.
The Montana Department of Transportation reported both northbound and southbound lanes of traffic on U.S Highway 93 had been diverted for several hours as authorities investigated the incident.
At this time, drugs, alcohol or speed are not suspected as factors in the crash. The cause of the incident is still under investigation by the Montana Highway Patrol.
