News from Judy Preston, scholarship administrator RONAN – Congratulations to Ronan High School seniors Sacorra Reum, Kara Holmlund and Maggie Lund for being selected to each receive a $1,000 K. William Harvey Memorial Scholarship for 2019.
K. William Harvey was Superintendent of Ronan School District #30 from 1968 to 1982. Jay W. Preston Sr., owner of Access Montana, (Ronan Telephone Company), served on the school board during part of Harvey’s time as superintendent. After Mr. Harvey died, Access Montana established this scholarship in his honor in 1989. The scholarship recipients have been selected every year for the last 26 years by Betty Harvey and a representative of Access Montana.
This year there are three recipients chosen. Sacorra Reum, Kara Holmlund and Maggie Lund’s applications and goals for the future are very impressive. We wish them all the best in their education and careers. This fall, Sacorra plans to attend the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, while Kara plans to attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and Maggie plans to attend the University of Montana Western in Dillon. The scholarships will be awarded to these outstanding recipients after the successful completion of their first semester of college.
