ST. IGNATIUS – The Mission-Arlee-Charlo (MAC) girls softball team swept a doubleheader with the visiting Manhattan Lady Tigers on Tuesday, April 23.
MAC took the first game 9-4. The MAC bats came alive in the bottom of the third inning scoring four runs to take the lead. MAC batters scored five more runs, while MAC pitcher Tomi Brazill held the Lady Tigers scoreless until the top of the sixth inning.
Caitlyn Sorrell contributed three hits and three RBIs to the winning effort. Olivia Garland and Frankie Smith each had two hits.
The MAC won the second game 13-8 behind a homer and three hits from Courtney Mitchell. Mitchell and Aubrey Doty each had two RBIs for the MAC. Brazill posted back-to-back wins in the pitchers’ circle for the MAC.
In a conference game matchup with the Deer Lodge on Friday, MAC blasted the Lady Wardens 20-9 for the home win on 18 hits. Winning pitcher Azia-Rain Umphrey only allowed the offense to get nine runs on eight hits. Umphrey also helped her own cause at the plate with a four-hit effort, including a home run, a triple and five RBIs.
During the slugfest, four other MAC batters produced multi-hit performances at the plate. Liev Smith and Taylor Olsen each had three hits. Frankie Smith and Sorrell booked a double and two hits each.
