Polson wrestling team takes third at state, Fritsch wins title

BILLINGS – The Polson High School wrestling team took home a third-place finish Saturday posting a team score of 128.5 in the Class A State Tournament in Billings.
Polson senior Hunter Fritsch capped his prep wrestling career with a state individual title at 170 pounds, finishing the season with a 25-1 record. Fritsch won the title by 3-0 decision over Nelson Crisafulli of Glendive.
Senior Bridger Wenzel fell just short of first-place honors at 152 with a 5-0 decision loss to Belgrade’s John Mears.
Pirate Rene Pierre had a strong showing and finished third at 113 by securing a win by pin. Also placing for Polson was Kedrick Baker (fifth) at 120 pounds and Logan Adler (sixth) at 182 pounds.
Taking home fourth place honors for the Class A Ronan Chiefs was senior Justin Mays (205), followed by Trevor Bartel (103) and Trapper McAllister (126) at sixth place.
In the Class B/C State Tournament, Mission-Charlo Bulldog Isaiah Allik wrestled his way onto the podium at 170 pounds with a fourth-place finish. Darwin Adams (145) and Isaac DuMontier (152) placed sixth.
