The Polson Lady Pirate volleyball team finished its regular season with a pair of wins against Frenchtown and Libby, and the Lady Pirates appear to be on the fast track to a successful run at the Divisional tourney coming up this weekend in Whitefish.
On Thursday, Polson swept Frenchtown on the road in 25-16, 25-23, 25-17 to secure the Northwestern A win.Shalaina Duford led Polson with 23 assists and 17 digs, while Tina Marquardt added seven kills. Teammate Riley Kenney contributed three of Polson’s eight aces. The Lady Pirates continued their winning ways on Saturday as they ventured to Libby to end their conference schedule in a Northwestern A battle.
The Lady Pirates came out hot, securing their first game with a 25-21 victory. The Lady Loggers didn’t make it easy for Polson, however, as they rallied in the second match to win 25-23. The third match was anyone’s game, as Polson edged out a 25-23 advantage before securing the 4-1 win with a final match score of 25-19.
Duford was yet again a force to be reckoned with, putting up 38 assists, 15 digs, and three aces, leading the way for her team. Kenzie Clay added 14 kills, while Kenney had 12. another 12.
Heidi Rausch played a solid match, collecting four of Polson’s five blocks.
The Lady Pirates will get a break before heading to Whitefish Friday for the Northwestern A Divisional tournament.
