Boys Basketball

Charlo Vikings

The Charlo Vikings boys' basketball team defeated the St. Regis Tigers 45-39 on Friday night in St. Regis. 

Landers Smith led the Vikings with 14 points. Phil Marquez and Garett Vaughn chipped in nine points. Nate Delaney scored 10.

The Vikings moved to 5-0 for the season with a 32-28 road-victory over the Plains Horsemen on Saturday. 

For the Vikings, Smith scored 18 points to lead the way.

Mission Bulldogs

The Mission Bulldogs boys' basketball team got a game-high 22 points from Jedi Christy in a 66-44 victory over the Copperheads on Friday in Anaconda. On Saturday, the Bulldogs moved to a 3-0 overall record as they trounced the Troy Trojans 77-39 in the season home opener. Flint McPherson led the Bulldogs with 18 points, Jacob Hugs added 16 points and Wacey McClure scored 15 points.

Polson Pirates

It took a three-point buzzer beater in overtime to give the Corvallis Blue Devils a 56-54 home win over the Polson Pirates on Thursday evening. Robin Erickson scored a team-high 14 points, while Colton Graham chipped in with 13 points and Trevor Schultz added another 10 points for the Pirates.

Ronan Chiefs 

In Northwest A Conference basketball action, the Ronan Chiefs struggled on the road this past weekend falling 83-37 to the Browning Indians on Friday and 59-35 on Saturday to the Libby Loggers.

Jacob Gatch and Levi Trahan both scored a team-high nine points for the Chiefs in the Browning game. 

Two Eagle River Eagles

Dom Finley scored a game- high 15 points for the Two Eagle River Eagles in a 40-30 home opener loss to the Noxon Red Devils on Friday evening in Pablo.  

It was a big night Saturday evening for the Eagles. They notched their first victory on the season with a 54-48 win over the Hot Springs Savage Heat. Eagle Travis Pierre lead all scorers with 20 points. William Hameline added another 10 points for the Eagles as they move 1-4 on the season.

 

Girls Basketball

Charlo Lady Vikings

Lady Viking Carlee Fryberger scored 10 points as Charlo picked up a big 38-19 District 14C win over hosting St. Regis on Friday. Kaitlin Cox had nine points for the Lady Vikings, who led 15-7 at the half. On Saturday, the Lady Vikings moved to 5-0 on the season with a 36-28 road victory over the Plains Trotters. Cox had 10 points for the Lady Vikings, while Liev Smith and Fryberger each added seven points apiece.

Mission Lady Bulldogs

Addison Arlint had 16 points to lead three Mission players in double figures as the Lady Bulldogs pulled away for a 56-48 home win over the Anaconda Lady Copperheads on Friday. Madyson Currie had 11 points, while Azia Umphrey chipped in 10. Karolyna Buck had 15 points as the unbeaten Lady Bulldogs topped the Troy Lady Trojans 71-31 on Saturday in Troy. Arlint scored 14 points, while Sydney Brander added 11 for the 3-0 Lady Bulldogs.

Polson Lady Pirates

On Thursday, the Lady Pirates fell 65-24 to the visiting Corvallis Lady Blue Devils. Karly Lawson scored a Lady Pirate team high nine points followed by Olivia Perez who scored seven and Mahala Buffalo who tallied six. 

Ronan Maidens

The Libby Lady Loggers narrowly escaped with a 36-31 win over visiting Ronan Maidens in Northwest A conference action in Libby on Saturday.

Two Eagle River Lady Eagles

The visiting Two Eagle River Lady Eagles fell 47-18 to the Hot Springs Lady Savage Heat on Saturday. Lady Eagle TaRae Good Luck topped all shooters with 17 points.

 

Wrestling 

Mission-Charlo Bulldogs

Darwin Adams, Isaiah Allik and Miles Anderson won their respective weight classes, helping the Mission-Charlo Bulldogs wrestling team score 133 total points and the team title at the Glyn Brawley wrestling tournament in Corvallis on Saturday afternoon. 

Adams won the 145-pound weight class, while Allik nabbed the top spot in the 170-pound weight class and Anderson defeated his opponent in the 205-pound weight class.

Arlee Warriors

At the Glyn Brawley wrestling tournament in Corvallis on Saturday afternoon, Arlee Warrior Skyler Titsworth took home the 152-pound weight class crown by defeating Mission-Charlo’s Isaac DuMontier.

Ronan Chiefs

Justin Mays placed second in the 205-pound weight class and helped the Ronan Chiefs to a 21st-place finish out of a pool of 55 teams during the C.M. Russell Holiday Wrestling Classic in Great Falls on Friday and Saturday.

In the championship match, Spencer Jones of Florence-Carlton defeated Mays by decision 12-7 in overtime. 

Polson Pirates

In a field of more than 65 teams, the Polson Pirate wrestling team scored 64 points to finish 25th during the prestigious  

Tri-State Wrestling Tournament held at the North Idaho College Christiansen Gymnasium in Coeur d’Alene this past weekend.

Top grapplers for the Pirates were Bridger Wenzel in the 205-pound weight class who placed fourth and Rene Pierre in the 106-pound weight class who finished seventh.
