COLUMBIA FALLS – On Saturday, Nov. 17, the Polson High School Speech and Debate team clinched a fourth-place team finish during competition at Columbia Falls.
The PHS debaters entered the competition prepared for the wrong topic due to a mix-up on the Montana High School Association calendar and had only a few minutes to prepare their cases.
In addition to a fourth team finish, PHS students captured five separate event top ten finishes. Violet Anderson placed third in Impromptu Speech and eighth place in Informative Speech. Joe McDonald placed third and Hallie Tyler received fourth place in Public Forum Debate. Davis Smith placed eighth in Lincoln-Douglas Debates.
