CORVALLIS - Both the Vikings and Lady Vikings showed they could hold their own against athletes from larger schools Thursday as the boys finished second and the girls were sixth at the Last Chance Meet.
Chance Rosenbaum led the way for the Vikings at the meet, picking up a first, a second and a third-place finish in three events.
Charlo scored 73 points to come in behind only Corvallis (101) and Darby (105) as Rosenbaum finished first in the pole vault after clearing 12 feet, six inches, was second in the high jump after clearing a height of six feet and was third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.
Stephen Delaney also had a great day for the Vikings, finishing first in the 300-meter hurdles by nearly half a second with a time of 41.19 and second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.39 seconds.
Austin Bauer was second in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, seven inches and fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.41 seconds. Webb O'Neill was third in the pole vault after clearing 11 feet, six inches and also took sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 38 feet, four and 1/2 inches.
Tra Ludeman picked up a third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.50 seconds while Chico Stipe was sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.72 seconds.
The Viking 1,600-meter relay team came in fourth in their race with a time of 3:44.5.
The Lady Vikings came away with a sixth-place finish at the meet after picking up a total of 37 team points.
Derika Stipe had the best individual finish for the Lady Vikings, coming in second in the pole vault after clearing seven feet, six inches. Deondra Brown Rachel Hoyt both picked up top-six finished in two events as Brown was fifth in the 100-meter dash and sixth in the 200-meter event while Hoyt was third in the high jump and sixth in the 400-meter run.
Aspen Runkel was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.5 seconds, Shaelynn Fell was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.49 seconds, the 1,600-meter relay squad was third with a time of 4:32.1 and the Lady Viking 400-meter relay team was fourth with a time of 53.62 seconds.
Both squads will be back in action at Arlee Thursday.
