Polson boys, girls down Hamilton

The Pirates and Lady Pirates basketball teams faced a slow week, as both teams only had one game against Hamilton. At Polson, the Pirates started off hot, building a 24-9 lead by the end of the first quarter, and outscored the Broncs 13-12 in the second to take a 37-21 lead at the half.

In the second half, Polson continued to produce both on offense and defense, as they came away with a convincing 75-62 win.

Tyler Krell finished with a game-high 31 points, 11 of which came in the fourth quarter. Teammate Zach Camel added another 12 points, while Vince DiGiallonardo finished with six for the Pirates.

For Hamilton, Brad Palin led the way with 17 points, while Eli Rogers also broke double digits with 12.

The Polson boys’ team will take the court against Frenchtown at home on Dec. 22 before beginning holiday break.

The Lady Pirates and Lady Broncs faced off in Hamilton, where Polson won in overtime, 53-46. Riley Kenney continues to lead Polson, as she finished with a game-high 18 points after scoring more than 20 in her previous two games.

At the end of regulation, the game was tied 42-42, but Polson’s Heidi Rausch, who added four of her nine points in the extra frame, proved to be the difference.

Polson outscored Hamilton 11-4 in overtime to secure a 53-46 win.

Anna DiGiallonardo was also hot from the floor, contributing 13 points.

The Lady Pirates play Frenchtown on the road Dec. 22 before the holiday break.
