New fire burns near Hot Springs

HOT SPRINGS – The 1,374-acre Rattlesnake Fire was 55 percent contained as of Monday, Sept. 3. The fire is located ten miles northeast of Hot Springs, on the Flathead Indian Reservation.
The human-caused fire was reported on Thursday, August 30, and is currently under investigation. The fire was burning in grass and timber along a steep west facing slope on Monday, according to reports from the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Division of Fire.
A type 3 incident management team is overseeing the fire.
There are 162 personnel assigned to the incident along with three helicopters, two air tankers, seven S.E.A.T.’s, three dozers, six skidgens, six type six engines, and six water tenders.
The following roads are closed until further notice: Rattlesnake Gulch Rd, Sullivan 3000 Rd, Deep Draw 4000 Rd, Irvine (Elmo) 1000 Rd, and the Irvine (Windy Gap) 1000 Rd.
