News from the Chief Cliff VFD, QRU
The Chief Cliff Volunteer Fire Department and Quick Response Unit sponsors the 27th Annual Dayton Daze on Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Dayton Park in Dayton. This year’s fundraiser starts with an open car show at 10 a.m. (registration at 9 a.m.), parade at 1 (line up at noon), raffles, 50/50, silent auction, firefighter and kids’ games, face-painting, Billy Bob’s BBQ, beer, ALERT helicopter landing (time TBA), police dog exhibition, and much, much more.
Montana Gold Rush is the theme of this year’s event, and there are prizes for best costumes and parade entries. Dayton Daze is an entire day of family-friendly fun, all for a great cause. Mountain Meadows at Lake Mary Ronan is hosting the Dayton Daze after-party with food, beverages and music starting at 5:30 p.m.
Money raised at Dayton Daze this year will be used to purchase of a new (used) pumper truck. The CCVFD/QRU receives $100 per taxpaying homeowner in the Chief Cliff Fire Service Area which encompasses approximately 65 square miles. Maintaining four fire halls, and the aging trucks housed within, eats up most of the tax money received. As a result, fundraising is necessary for the purchase of newer model trucks, updated radios, and improved safety equipment.
