Tribal Forestry in Ronan is now buying closed cones for seed of the following species on the Flathead Indian Reservation: western larch - $40 a bushel; ponderosa pine - $20 a bushel; and Douglas fir - $25 a bushel. (A bushel is eight U.S. gallons.)
All cone pickers must list location of all cones picked and forestry is accepting cones from Tuesday, Sept. 4 to Nov. 1. Hours of operation are Monday – Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 104 East Main in Ronan. For more information call Tony Incashola at 406-676-3755 or Monty Marengo at 406-212-1699.
