Judge C.B. McNeil dealt with the following cases Wednesday, March 28:

Lecrecia Barrows, 21, Polson, had her sentence for criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony, deferred for three years. As a condition of the deferred sentence, Barrows must serve 30 days in the Lake County Jail within one year.

According to court documents, charges stem from a January 2011 incident where Barrows was arrested on outstanding Polson City Courts warrants. During the search, a short piece of drinking straw was found in Barrows’ pocket with a white powdery residue on the outside. Barrows admitted using “meth” all weekend. The straw was sent to the state crime lab where it tested positive for methamphetamine and hydrocodone.

Daniel T. Brown, 23, Ronan, pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault, a felony. An omnibus hearing was set for Wednesday, May 30, and a jury trial set to begin Monday, Aug. 30. Both begin at 9 a.m.

According to court documents, charges stem from a Feb. 25 incident where Polson Police were called to the Southshore Lounge to investigate a possible assault. When officers arrived on scene, they found a man lying just inside the entrance to the bar; he was breathing but unresponsive. The man was taken to the hospital.

A bouncer at the bar told police he had seen Brown punch the injured man, knocking him to the ground, and kick him in the head. The bouncer said that Brown ran to a truck and left before police arrived. Later that day, an officer interviewed Brown, who said he had been in the parking lot of the Southshore when a man approached him, yelling. Brown believed the man was yelling at him (he later learned the man was actually yelling at his own sister), and stepped in front of him and punched him, knocking him to the ground. Brown initially denied kicking the man in the head, but later admitted stomping on his head while he was on the ground. As a result of the assault, the man suffered a fractured skull and bleeding in his brain and was in intensive care for three days.
