ARLEE — The Arlee Senior Center is happy to welcome back our snow birds -- Joanne and
Martin Moss, Jack Jefferson, Cole and Anne Younger, and Rex and Peggy Tanner. We look forward to many happy visits with them this summer and early fall.
Times are changing, and so must we. The Arlee Senior Citizens Center
Board of Directors had to take a hard look at the changes going on with us. After much discussion, and with great regret, we made the difficult decision we knew was necessary.
Beginning the first week of July, we are dropping the Friday lunches. We will continue serving lunches on Mondays and Wednesdays each week, and the 6 p.m. evening meals the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Friday noon lunches however, will no longer be served.
Come fall, winter and spring, the census for Friday lunches often drops to only two or three diners. Arlee has more than its share of eating places to choose from. On July 1 our new fiscal year begins, and now is when we sign a new contract with Area VI Agency on Aging for their financial support of the nutrition program. So now is when the decision must take effect.
Menus for July 1-18 follow.
— Monday, July 2: short ribs, chive potatoes, salad, fruit, birthday cake
— Wednesday, July 4: no meal - have a safe and happy 4th of July
— Monday, July 9: chicken Alfredo, salad, fruit, dessert
— Wednesday, July 11: Swiss steak with rice, veggie tray, fruit, dessert
— Saturday, July 14: pork roast with potatoes and gravy, Caprice salad, fruit, dessert
— Monday, July 16: Italian meatballs, pasta salad, fruit, dessert
— Wednesday, July 18: pulled pork sandwich, chips, coleslaw, fruit, dessert
All seniors are encouraged to attend and everyone is welcome. Take-outs are available. All meals are served with a vegetable or salad, dessert, milk, and drink for $4 for 60 years and over and $5 for under 60 years.
When eating a meal at the center you may enter the “Thank You” drawing for $50 at the end of each month. Bill Wright was the winner in May. You could be the winner in June.
