ARLEE – Thirty-three Arlee High School graduates listened as teacher Ryan Landolfi gave them a bit of advice during his commencement address on Sunday, May 27.
He encouraged them to value relationships and call their old friends once in a while to touch base. He said if something goes wrong as they progress through life, the solution is usually obvious, although, the most obvious solution isn’t always correct.
He added in some health advice during his speech: “Drink water and put the Red Bull down,” he said. He finished by saying that it was okay to “not know everything” and to continue asking questions.
The ceremony opened with the “Honor Song” by Allen Pierre and family. Laurencia Starblanket sang the “Star Spangled Banner.” Principal Jim Taylor said it was a “great day” because this graduating class was going to lead the future.
Salutatorian Summer DarcAngelo thanked people as a community for coming together during the hard times. She thanked her family and friends. She said to the teachers: “If it wasn’t for you, none of this would be possible.”
Valedictorian MacKenzie Koetter thanked parents for giving the students needed support to get to this day. She said her own parents often stayed up late at night helping her with homework. “Without them, I wouldn’t be the person I am today,” she said. She added a few words of advice: ignore negative opinions and don’t stress about trivial things.
