POLSON – More than 1,000 of basketball players and fans poured into 21 courts in Polson’s downtown area July 22-24 for the annual Flathead 3-on-3 Tournament. Approximately 290 teams stormed the courts in hopes of making it to the championship game. Sixteen divisions competed during the event.

The weekend was filled with great basketball and even warmer weather, as temperatures soared into the 80s over the three-day event.

Salish Kootenai College Lady Bison player Charla Brown won the three-point shooting contest at the conclusion of Saturday’s bracket play, while Rodee Anderson won the men’s contest.

During the slam-dunk contest, Dallas Casazza picked up the victory in the 6’1” and under category, while Joel Ahles won the 6’1” and over.

In the men’s open elite, Newdle took on Desert Horse, with Newdle picking up the championship victory in a closely contested game.

The Coming Stunts claimed the male 11-12 bracket after they downed the Zootang Clan, while the Fugly Four downed the Rustlers in the 11-12 bracket.

The first Flathead 3-on-3 tournament was held in 1992, with 93 teams competing. Throughout the years the event has more than doubled, reaching 300 teams several times. The annual tournament is hosted by Anderson Broadcasting and benefits a number of local charities.
