Ronan Farmers Market kicks off May 10

News from the Ronan Farmers Market

RONAN – The Ronan Farmers Market is kicking off May 10 with a variety of vendors offering items such as cheese, sourdough bread, vegetable starts and microgreens. The market will be held every Thursday between May 10 and mid-October on the grass behind the Visitor’s Center on Highway 93. The hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Market manager Jaci Webb came on board in April to recruit vendors and promote the market throughout the community. Webb brings three decades of experience in journalism and teaching to the position. Webb said the mission for the market is to promote local sustainable agriculture, but one component of that is to foster community support for local farms. “I love the idea that Ronan’s nickname has been the Garden of the Rockies,” Webb said. “Ronan continues to be an agricultural hub of the Mission Valley and we need to promote that throughout the community.” Plans are to offer live music and showcase local artists. For the opening market, local blues and R&B guitarist Greg Kenmille will be featured. A vendor orientation meeting will be held May 3 at the Visitor’s Center. Those interested in becoming a vendor or showcasing music or artwork at the market, should contact Webb at 698-3312 or email her at jaci.webb@lakecountycdc.org.
